Period: 6–25 September 2026
The best-documented September developments around the XRP Ledger tell a more technical than speculative story. xrpld 3.4.0 brings LendingProtocolV1_1, several fixes and operational improvements. A few days later, the XLS-68 report details a vulnerability discovered on Devnet before activation of the Sponsor amendment on Mainnet and confirms that the fix was incorporated into the new version. On 25 September, xrpld 3.4.1 was released as an emergency update addressing sensitive protocol security issues. It includes fixBatchV1_2 and additional security and stability fixes, with server operators urged to upgrade promptly.
At the same time, Ripple continued expanding its enterprise activity across treasury AI, the RLUSD stablecoin, institutional custody and U.S. regulatory debate. These activities belong to the same broad commercial ecosystem, but they should not all be presented as direct uses of XRP.
A careful reading separates three layers: the XRP Ledger as public infrastructure, XRP as its native asset, and Ripple as a company offering multiple products. This distinction avoids two opposite errors: attributing every Ripple success to XRP, or ignoring links when products genuinely use XRPL.
September therefore mainly shows an ecosystem in a phase of technical consolidation. Execution quality, real adoption and the ability to maintain security will be more informative over the long term than short-term market reactions alone.
